Gotanda is where the JR Yamanote Line, the Tokyu Ikegami Line and the Toei Asakusa Line meet — an office district with a down-to-earth tavern side on both the east and west sides of the station, and handy after a walk along the Meguro River. This guide introduces 15 izakaya (Japanese taverns) around Gotanda Station, starting — openly — with our own tavern, BEEF KITCHEN STAND Gotanda inside the Gotanda Shokudo food hall, plus 14 local places whose names and addresses we verified one by one.
No rankings, no scores, no sponsored placements. Only facts we could confirm. Every price in this guide includes tax, and where a charge applies, we say so before you walk in.

Home of the ¥290 bifteki — a great-value steak tavern inside a food hall

FAQ
Before you go
Is there a cover charge?
Many izakaya charge a small per-person cover called otoshi. At BEEF KITCHEN STAND Gotanda, the dedicated seating area (24 seats) carries a ¥438 charge including tax, and it includes all-you-can-eat edamame — stated here and at the shop, so the bill never surprises you.
Do I need to tip?
No. Japan has no tipping culture, and prices are displayed with tax included. What you see is what you pay.
Can I come alone?
Absolutely. Drinking solo is a Tokyo tradition, and small-plates taverns like BEEF KITCHEN STAND are built for it — order a little of everything without committing to a big dish.
What are BEEF KITCHEN STAND Gotanda's hours?
Weekdays 11:00 AM–11:00 PM with a break from 2:00–4:00 PM; weekends and holidays 11:00 AM–11:00 PM. Last order is 10:30 PM. The tavern is inside the Gotanda Shokudo food hall in Gotanda JP Building, a short walk from JR Gotanda Station, and serves lunch.
